Today I got notified about some Intelinet Smart Security software (intelinet-global.com). A friend of mine could not decide if its rogue or not at first. Well, some diging around and we found who owns it, and  it was not even hard : they used netcom3.com domain email while registering the new one. Remember Netcom3 guys ?  The “Software leaders” with fake antispyware and antivirus comparison pages?  I would doubt the company has 150 employees they claim on the webpage, as the domains itself are  only 4  and 2.5 months old.

Ok, what did they wrong at presenting and distributing product?

1) The name of the product is kinda stolen, or, more exactly, combined from Symantecs Smart security and Inteli scan term, used in spyware removers. The terms used are stolen from other removers. Not sure if they are covered by copyright law. There are companies called Intelinet in US, that are not related to these Netcom3 software makers.

2) You dont start distributing software from version 3. You start at version one. Except if you wanna show that you are longer in market than in reality.

3) You do not claim being best and winning awards which you havent won. Thats a scam and a sign of being a rogue.

4) You do not make new removers under different company names if your product is legitimate. Except if you want to hide fact that your software is a piece of crap. You stick with your company name if everything is ok.

5) Your previous security suite was crap anyways.  You should go to other business.

Domains related : intelinet-secure.com, intelinet-global.com

We recommend NOT using this software.

This Intelinet is malware of some sort. I downloaded the ‘free test’, & now, I cannot get rid of this software from my computer. Every time I boot up the computer, this Intelinet software window appears, telling me to register now. There are all the function buttons, but no uninstall button. When I mailed them on their helpsite, there was a reply to my inbox that they would reply within 24 hours, yet they have never replied about how to uninstall it. Stay away from downloading this software.

Furthermore, I’ve found that when I try to post these commentson other sites offering this software, the page goes dead, or various obstacles are presented to prevent the comment being posted, such as ‘your comment is toolong’ (I cut it down to 2 sentences & got the same response!), then a repeated ‘code is incorrect’excuse. Check out MobiTechWorld to see what I mean.

I’ve found that Malwarebytes (freeware) will clean your computer of this awful Intelinet software. Malwarebytes found 43 infections from Intelinet, including a trojan.

Sorry, that should be 52 infections.

I downloaded and paid $4.95 for the 7 day trial of Intelinet Smart Security. I sent them an email prior to the seventh day asking them to cancel my service, but did not receive a reply. I called the number listed on their site and the person that answered told me that he was only in charge of the billing and that unless I could provide proof of the cancellation email, my credit card had already been charged the $49.95. He told me to email customer service at “Intelinet-Global.com” to attempt to cancel the account. I have tried to uninstall Intelinet Smart Security using the scan feature on Malawarebytes and it does not show anything related to Intelinet Smart Security. I am using the free version of Malawarebytes, does that make a difference? How do I know if it’s been uninstalled from my computer?

If a person is in charge of billing, he has to be able to stop charges. So they are trying to scam you again to get another payment. Tell him you will talk with your bank and get a chargeback. This often solves problems with such companies.
Also, try to update Malware bytes. If you purchased the Intelinet, some uninstaller has to exist, but scanning your PC will not do harm. Typically, parasites come with “free” versions of such software that needs to prove their usability or force you pay.

I also got burned by the hidden automatic renewal language when ordering trial. Neither Intelinet or their billing agent ECC are willing to work with customers

I also paid he 4.95 fee for the 7 day trial and am currently trying to cancel my membership. Does anyone know the phone number to the company? I cannot find it on the website anywhere.

Derrick Pate · May 8, 2009 at 9:06 pm

Phone number for billing is 1-888-736-6475.

Ieishea · May 21, 2009 at 1:52 pm

Thanks for the number Derrick. I was able to contact the company and cancel my subscription using my subscription id that was given to me when I purchased it. Its sad that the website doesnt list a number for technical support or anything.
